Ford's best seller sedan, Ford Focus coming to India

Ford, world's third leading car manufacturer's are now all set to launch their so far best seller, Ford Focus in the ever growing Indian automobile field. The main thing to be noted with this new Ford Focus in India is that it looks almost similar with the Ford's one of the earlier hit model, Ford Ikon.

This new Ford Focus, a good looking sedan in the D segment will have to compete with the likes of Honda Civic, Skoda Octavia and Toyota Corolla Altis. The Focus might get launched with two engine options, petrol and a diesel. This new Ford Focus in India will features a maximum power of about 140 bhp @ 6000 rpm and a maximum torque of about 136 ft-lbs @ 4250 rpm.

This new Ford Focus in India, with a 5-Speed Manual Gear transmission is all set to give a top mileage of around 24 kmpl in the cities and around 33 kmpl in the highways. This new Ford Focus in India is expected to be launched by this August 2011 and might have a price tag of around Rs 11 lakhs (ex-showroom Mumbai).

O segmento das minivans compactas faz sucesso em vários países, inclusive na Europa. A Ford está decidida a entrar nesta acirrada categoria, e apresenta o conceito B-MAX, que pretende bater de frente com outras minivans consagradas, como a nova geração da Opel/Vauxhall Meriva.

Construído sobre a plataforma do New Fiesta Hatch, o carro se destaca pelo desenho arrojado, fruto da tendência de estilo Kinetic. Os faróis afilados e a enorme tomada de ar dianteira, presente em quase todos os lançamentos da Ford, chamam atenção na dianteira da B-MAX.

Olhando de lado é que se percebe a maior ousadia dos projetistas da marca. A ausência da coluna “B” indica que há algo de diferente na abertura das portas: o acesso ao banco traseiro é realizado por duas portas corrediças, que facilitam o entra-e-sai, principalmente em lugares com pouco espaço.

Lincoln MKT

Ford's Lincoln division unveiled the all-new 2010 Lincoln MKT at the 2009 NAIAS in Detroit today. The new luxury crossover enters the segment with the brand's signature exterior design theme, a three-row interior and intuitive technologies - including optional Adaptive Cruise Control, Collision Warning with Brake Support, Active Park Assist and Blind Spot monitoring.

The Lincoln MKT, larger than the two-row MKX mid-size premium crossover, joins the MKS luxury sedan launched in 2008 and the new MKZ sedan that hits the US market this spring.

Ford Taurus

Ford today revealed its all-new Taurus sedan at the 2009 NAIAS, with a design that is decidedly more upmarket than its 500 precursor.

"Lightning can strike twice," said Peter Horbury, executive director of Design for The Americas. "Like the 1986 original, the new 2010 Taurus differentiates by combining style with substance."

The shift starts with the vision for Taurus itself. It debuted as a family sedan, but with the advent of crossovers, the new Taurus is aimed at drivers who might place more of a premium on the driving experience than outright practicality.

"Taurus is more of a 'me' sedan now, and we've delivered with this buyer in mind," said Moray Callum, director of Ford's Car and Crossover Design.

Ford Verve Sedan

Just as Mazda is exhibiting a sedan version of the 2 at Auto Guangzhou, the automaker's parent company, Ford, is revealing a sedan version of the Verve concept. The second in a series of concepts that will culminate with yet another variant set to be unveiled in Detroit, this 'notchback' provides further insight to the future small car design direction for Ford.

Ford's European design team, which created the Verve concepts, applied Ford's kinetic design philosophy and built on the look of its hatchback sibling. It shares the three-door's front-end graphics and signature form language, composed of dynamic lines and full surfaces, and displays a pillarless side window profile along with strongly defined wheel arches. The Verve Sedan's C-pillar shape adds to the feeling of dynamism, while the rear body and decklid shapes continue the kinetic design look with full surfaces and bold lines. The rear glass of the notchback is shaped to correspond with the forms of the high-mounted, two-piece tail lamps. This execution, first seen on the new Mondeo, is now translated into a smaller car.

"First it was the hatchback and now a very exciting and dynamic notchback," said Martin Smith, Ford's Executive Director of European Design. "Looking at these concepts together, you can just imagine how exciting the successor to the Ford Fiesta will be when it hits the market."

Ford Verve concept

Clad in a plum red coating, Ford has revealed the Verve concept, to be shown at the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show. The latest in a line of 'Kinetic Design' concepts, the Verve hints at the new design direction for future Ford compact cars, with the Fiesta the most likely to be the first recipient of this design direction.

Compared to other recent Ford show cars, the Verve has rounder volumes and more organic surfaces, but continues to display a solid, dynamic form anchored by the rich wheelarch forms and a strongly raked DLO. Long, feline-like headlamps and a large, inverted trapezoidal lower grille - missing the two small triangular intakes from the other previous Ford concepts - with an almost non-existent upper grille, is somewhat similar to recent Peugeot and Hyundai models.

The interior features numerous 'touch-pad' like buttons inspired by the latest mobile phones. Its mixture of latest technology and aesthetics give a stylish yet user-friendly interior.

Ford Kuga

A new crossover wearing the Ford badge will be revealed at this year's Frankfurt Motor Show. Called the Kuga, the vehicle draws heavily on the Iosis X concept car presented at the 2006 Paris Motor Show.

"We recognised that image-conscious customers for this kind of vehicle want a very individual car in which impressive on-road capability blends seamlessly with substantial off-road ability," said Martin Smith, Executive Design Director for Ford of Europe.

The Kuga was designed using Ford's 'kinetic design' form language, with the compact 4x4 crossover scheduled to be added to the Ford of Europe portfolio in early 2008.

Ford Mondeo

gPreviewed in Paris last year and more recently in the Bahamas by Bond, these are the official pictures of the new Ford Mondeo that will go on sale in June. More powerful looking than the car it replaces, the Mondeo's styling is the result of Ford's 'kinetic design' philosophy, demonstrated by a deep-cut belt and extensive geometric graphics inside and out. Pronounced arches and rocker panels give good stance, while the interior has 'new levels of craftsmanship', using the imminently ubiquitous 'piano black' trim with soft-touch plastics and ambient lighting.

Three body styles will be sold from launch: sedan, hatch and wagon, each available in one of four trim levels; there are also nine engine options - meaning a possible total of 108 variations. These range from a 1.8-liter 100PS diesel to the 220PS 2.5-liter five-cylinder motor used in the Focus and Volvo C30 as well, and there is also a new gasoline, a 2.3-liter four producing 161PS. A forthcoming accessories kit is said to take the car back to its Paris form - though hopefully without the orange steering wheel.

Ford Iosis X concept

With an abundance of small SUVs entering the European market, Ford has been conspicuously absent from this segment, something that the Iosis X will hope to quell. Using the same 'kinetic design' theme as the Iosis concept from last year, the Iosis X puts a coupe-like window graphic and roofline upon thick sills, similar in this respect to the Opel Antara concept. But while Opel will have their model on the road imminently, those wanting the Ford equivalent will have to wait until early 2008 for the forms to be toned down and put in showrooms.

The project is the latest work of Ford's European design studios, based in Cologne, Germany, the team lead by Executive Design Director Martin Smith.

Ford Mondeo

Ford's all-new Ford Mondeo is previewing at Paris in its near final production wagon form ahead of the launch in early 2007.

Styling is a further evolution of Ford's new 'kinetic design' form language seen on its S-MAX. The most obvious feature is the sharp similarity with the face of the Iosis concept of 2005. The front end has chamfered corners and has a deep offset between the top of the hood and the front fenders.

"The wagon bodystyle is very important in the CD segment so it is appropriate that we show this derivative in Paris first," said Martin Smith, Ford of Europe's Design Director.

"The new Mondeo's wagon bodystyle really emphasizes the sporty, dynamic and premium appearance of the new range," added Smith. "Above all, we've managed to achieve this kinetic look without compromising luggage capacity. I believe new Mondeo will challenge everyone's perceptions of a big Ford car, and prove that we can once again deliver style with substance in a desirable form.

Ford Explorer America concept

Ford is poised to reveal a concept for the next-generation Explorer in Detroit next week. Called the Explorer America, the show car incorporates new technologies and engineering innovations to deliver a nearly 20 to 30 percent gain in fuel economy over the current V6 model.

To achieve these figures the Explorer America features a unibody (rather than the current body-on-frame construction) as well as lightweight materials, suspension and chassis components, and a downsized V6 engine. This enables the concept to decrease weight by 150 pounds over a comparable modern-day V6-powered Explorer.

Innovative design features abound both on the exterior and interior of the vehicle, including a sliding rear door and a work table with seats that deploys from the tailgate.

Ford Fiesta

These are the first official photos of the new Ford Fiesta scheduled to bow in at the Geneva Auto Show next month. Look familiar? It should, as the Fiesta is virtually identical to the Verve concept shown at the Frankfurt Auto Show last year. And though the new car loses the paint scheme it retains many of the concept's styling cues.

"All the vital elements of 'kinetic design' have been translated into the new Fiesta to create a dynamic spirit of fun and energy," said Martin Smith, Executive Director of Design for Ford of Europe. "New Fiesta evokes an instant emotional response that says ‘I want one' which extends the traditionally practical values of the Fiesta to appeal to a new, style-conscious generation of small car buyers."

The sixth generation Fiesta also adopts the Verve's mobile phone-inspired, human-machine interface technology with a new centre console that features a tray for MP3 players and built-in sockets for an auxiliary audio and USB cables.

Ford Ka

These are the first images of the all-new Ford Ka, set to be unveiled at the forthcoming Paris Motor Show in October.

This is the first redesign since the original Ford Ka - widely considered to be an automotive design icon - was launched at the 1996 ParisMotor Show. Back then, the Ka was praised for its 'New Edge' styling, helping Ford sell 1.4 million vehicles over its 12-year life. But the new car has lost its quirky design features, adopting instead the form language of Ford's 'kinetic design' theme seen on the Fiesta, Mondeo and Kuga.

The B-segment vehicle, which will slot in below the Fiesta in the firm's European range, will share a platform with the Fiat Panda and 500 and be built at the same facility in Tychy, Poland. The new car is expected to source power from 1.4-liter and 1.6-liter gasoline engines and a 1.6-liter TDCi diesel.
